March 18 in a small American city of Arizona unmanned vehicle knocked down a woman to death. The tragic incident led to the beginning of an investigation into this road accident, to a total ban on further testing of unmanned technologies from Uber throughout the United States and to a loud trial involving many experts and parties. Today it became known that the company NVIDIA, which developed the technology of unmanned driving, too testing their development, as they were used in Uber autopilot.
The unmanned driving system developed by NVIDIA was tested in the USA, Germany, Japan and in a number of other countries. The company's operating time was used in its cars by various automakers, including Volkswagen, Tesla and Audi. In addition, with NVIDIA cooperates more than three hundred different companies involved in the development of unmanned vehicles, and Uber is also among them.
In the autumn of 2017, NVIDIA showed a computer of its own design, capable, according to the developers, to provide the car with a fifth-level autopilot, in which human control of driving is not required. Now NVIDIA engineers for an indefinite period have suspended testing because of the tragedy. When the tests are resumed, it is not reported.
