The Hong Kong start-up Qtum launched its own block-satellite

Developers from Qtum have created their own decentralized Qtum platform, which combines Bitcoin's transactional model and the conflict resolution system in decision-making from Ethereum. The other day they launched the first satellite with a microcomputer on board, which will soon launch the first Qtum node in space. Now the satellite went into orbit, transmitted a signal to Earth and expects a full launch.

The launch of the Chinese CZ-2D rocket with SpaceChain on board took place on the evening of February 2, 2018. The satellite containing the Raspberry Pi microcomputer, on which the full Qtum unit will soon start working, began to go into orbit, giving test signals indicating its operability and sending the ground station to telemetry. Later, the satellite received a response from the Earth and began to prepare antennas, batteries and solar panels for work.

"The launch of SpaceChain was an important step towards creating a decentralized environment that can become an advanced tool in industry, business and science," said SpaceChain co-founder Jeff Garzick.

It is very likely that the company is going to launch several more satellites with its nodes in the future, but for now developers are preparing to conduct a full test of all systems of their first-born.
