All previous systems of block-payments have been experimental and not widely used, but the American Express and Ripple project jointly intends to "raise" a full-fledged payment platform that allows you to quickly transfer funds to Santander corporate clients.
"The main feature of block-payments is their speed. And it will help many US and UK companies to evaluate our system, because usually it took a couple of days to receive the transfer, but now it's all in the past - money "arrives" in real time, which is in line with the current rhythms of doing business, "says Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
Speed is not the only advantage of this system. Partners note that the blockchain channel, through which transfers are made, will allow companies to track payments, and the transactions themselves will be cheaper than conventional bank transfers.
Over time, when the system is properly rolled around, not only UK residents and US residents will be able to use it, but also residents of other countries.
