System X-Matic will turn any car into a drone

It seems that the idea of the GeoHOTa hacker appealed to other developers, so some took the initiative in their own hands, starting the development of their own autopilot systems, suitable for any car. One of the start-ups is the Canadian company X-Matic, which developed a system of five components that take control of the car.

The LaneCruise system consists of a central processor, a front camera, a touch interface for the driver, and a steering and pedal drive. Devices from the kit are put on top of the existing auto controls and take all the driver's actions.

When working LaneCruise does not use GPS and various sensors, so its price is much lower than the more advanced counterparts. Instead of a heap of heaped lidars and other things, LaneCruise is content only with a camera that is mounted on the windshield and sends the captured information to the computer that processes it and makes the necessary decision.

The developers emphasize that LaneCruise is primarily a driver's assistant, but it can not completely replace the person behind the wheel. In addition, the third level of autonomy LaneCruise will not allow the system to do without a driver, as it does not perceive the road without marking and can not distinguish between intersections, if they do not have cars.

Nevertheless, the Canadian assistant will appear on sale in a year and a half or two, and cost his beta version will be about $ 1500.
