The planned release of the digital crown will not take place, - it is reported in the official statement issued by the Central Bank of Denmark. According to experts, the state digital currency can negatively affect the financial stability of the country.
Representatives of the Central Bank of Denmark carefully analyzed all options and considered possible risks, and then came to the conclusion that the existing payment solutions fully cover the needs of the Danes, which means that there is simply no point in the issue of the digital crown.
"The digital krona will not create any new opportunities for commodity-money relations and monetary policy of the country," Reuters quotes an excerpt from the statement.
Having carefully studied how the Danes use payment solutions, the Central Bank came to the conclusion that electronic payments account for almost 80 percent, while only 20 percent are left to pay for cash. In the country there are other payment systems that allow you to quickly make money transfers, including through mobile applications and instant messengers. The Central Bank considered this sufficient and decided to abandon e-Krona. At least for now.
Bank of Sweden, on the contrary, intends to abandon the cash, eventually completely switching to digital money. However, the final decision on the full transition to e-currency will be made in the next two years.
