The European Space Agency will cross drones with satellites

Specialists of the European Space Agency have begun to develop high-altitude pseudosatellites, designed to become the missing link between satellites and airplanes. A high-altitude pseudosatellite can look like a perfectly normal aircraft, but it can fly at a much higher altitude, and can also hang for a few weeks at one point - just like a satellite. But he will not do it in space, but in the atmosphere.

The developers say that the usual altitude at which high-altitude pseudo satellites will fly is about twenty kilometers, which is substantially higher than all passenger lines, and still there so high that even the wind will not prevent such vehicles from hovering in the air practically on the spot. In addition, everything is perfectly visible from a height, which means that, with good and high-quality optics, the device will be able to carry out aerial photography, distribute the Internet and point the way to the navigators in the network.

The ESA has long been planning to start building something like this, but in the past 20 years, problems have always cropped up with dimensions, then with other systems. Last month, ESA invited various scientists who could help implement these ideas.

The idea is really good, because pseudo satellites will be much cheaper in development, maintenance and launch than traditional orbital devices, while tasks can perform similar.
