Microsoft stopped official support for Windows Vista

Microsoft has stopped supporting its, perhaps, the most unfortunate operating system in recent history. This, of course, is about Windows Vista. Objectively speaking, this version of the OS is really very few people liked, so Microsoft decided not to stay on it and after a major release quickly moved to developing a new operating system.

Microsoft stopped official support for Windows Vista on April 11, 2017. This means that the company will no longer release for this OS new service packs that increase the security of the operating system, patch the remaining holes, offer additional support options or any other additional content for updates.

The Microsoft website says that support for Windows Vista has been implemented for the last 10 years, "but the time has come, and we need to move forward with our hardware and software partners, putting our efforts into more recent technologies."

Of course, personal computers running Windows Vista will still work, but now they will become more vulnerable in terms of security, as the company will no longer release for them any new patches that increase their security against the latest digital threats. In addition, this may mean that hardware and software vendors are now likely to focus on optimizing their products running on more modern versions of Windows, and new products from such companies are more likely to behave less steadily when used Vista.

Microsoft continues to encourage users and owners of licensed copies of Vista to upgrade their systems to Windows 10, but it is unlikely that the systems collected in the early days of Vista will be able to show optimal performance when working with new iterations of the OS. Some even in this case have to buy new computers with preinstalled Windows 10. Fortunately for the latter, the market provides for a variety of different configurations. And if there is no desire to buy a new computer assembly, there is always an opportunity to collect it yourself.
