The state procurement website says that JSC Russian Railways is looking for developers of unmanned train driving technologies for the subsequent introduction of development on the Moscow and Oktyabrskaya railways.
Work will have to quickly, because one of the mandatory conditions stipulated by the Railways, was the completion of work until the end of 2019. It is planned to spend about 318 million rubles for the development of the software and hardware complex.
Interfax writes that unmanned technologies are already being used in Russian Railways. At the Luzhskaya station in the Leningrad Region, for example, a system for the dissolution of wagons with automatic control of the locomotive is already in use.
Introducing unmanned technologies for driving and maneuvering in Russian Railways is planned in stages, but earlier Valentin Gapanovich, Senior Vice President of Russian Railways, said that the development of such programs is part of the company's plans for the near future. This will solve the personnel problems and reduce the workload on the drivers, because in a number of non-standard situations the autopilot can switch control to itself or help the operator in difficult areas.
