Any autopilot for successful movement on the roads need a map, but not some horrible, but a new, relevant and detailed, preferably released yesterday-today, containing all the changes and designations. To establish the release of such maps for autopilots, the startup Lvl5 ​​decided to attract drivers Uber and Lyft.

Andrew Kuri and Eric Red worked at Tesla to create an autopilot, and George Tall developed a technology that allows processing video from car recorders, turning them into detailed 3D maps. The obtained knowledge and experience was decided to direct in the right direction, so colleagues at the end of last year founded their own company and began to develop the idea.

Already, about 2500 drivers have installed a special application for smartphones on their smartphones that writes video and then sends compressed data to the cloud where all the information is received and processed by Lvl5 ​​special algorithm, converting the received video into high-quality and detailed maps that in the future will help autonomous vehicles Avoid accidents and provide a qualitatively new level of movement along the roads.
