According to the material published by Izvestia, the company National Center for Informatization, part of the state corporation Rostek, has developed an operating system designed to work with information of national importance. The Linux-based system received a simple name "OS" and is currently undergoing a thorough expert review by the specialists of the Ministry of Communications.
"OS" can be used in data centers, on servers, as well as on client workstations. According to the representatives of the NCI, the target customers of the product are primarily federal and regional authorities, local governments, state corporations and companies with state participation. But the product can also be used in the free market for import substitution purposes.
Let us remind you that Russia already has its own operating systems for a long time. One of them is called "Dawn" and is intended for use in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Developed by experts of the United Instrument-Making Corporation, commissioned by the Defense Ministry. At the heart of "Dawn" is a corporate Linux distribution. The second operating system was developed in the CRI EISU and is called "Dawn". It is also used for the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The new operating system, created in the NCI, differs in that it can be integrated with third-party software, including software released for the Windows platform. This will allow the users of software developed for Microsoft systems to migrate more smoothly to the new OS. In addition, OS has all the necessary encryption tools and security certificates, which will provide it with a high degree of protection against hacking and data theft.
