#CES | Platform Snapdragon Flight Drone will allow drones to act independently

Qualcomm also visited the CES 2017 exhibition to showcase its latest developments. Among other things, representatives of the company demonstrated an updated version of its platform Snapdragon Flight Drone, created to manage unmanned aerial vehicles. The development is designed to ensure that the drone can better navigate in space, making decisions on its own and reacting to changing the situation in real time.

Drones can fly without the help of an operator thanks to machine learning or artificial intelligence programs that help the drone to track a particular object, following it on the heels. In Qualcomm, the problem came a bit from the other side: the Copter, equipped with the platform Snapdragon Flight Drone, is able to "think", he understands what met him on the way during the flight. Depending on what he "sees", the drone builds his new route, pondering it on the go.

Quadrocopter on the platform Snapdragon Flight Drone demonstrated in the pavilion with obstacles, there were many visitors and did not work GPS. The device coped with the task, showing that it can rely on its own resources. Especially for the exhibition was shot commercials, talking about the new development.

The weight of the Snapdragon navigation processor is only 12 grams, but it perfectly copes with all the tasks: machine learning, flight control and other functions is performed by this miniature module, so the UAV can fly independently and without external support.

Aircraft on the new platform Snapdragon Flight Drone could be useful for video surveillance and security inside the premises, they can also be used for search and rescue operations. And if you thoroughly refine the program part of the platform, nothing prevents you from arranging and racing drones on autopilot.
