According to the press service of Skolkovo, specialists of the national innovation center developed and started a closed beta testing of the application, which allows finding free parking spaces in real time.
The development of the application was also attracted by specialists of the company "Where is parking?". The new ecosystem is arranged as follows: near the parking spaces special sensors are installed that analyze the availability of available places, then the collected data is sent to special data centers, to the information of which anybody already has access. In addition, it is possible to buy a ready-made kit from a sensor and a solar battery or to assemble independently from the same sensor and any smartphone with access to the Internet for personal use, installation in offices or shopping centers. Currently, the testing takes place on the operating systems iOS and Android.
According to the founder of the company "Where is parking?" Pavel Titov and Vasily Ryzhonkov, director of the Skolkovo Center for Mobile Technologies,
"For the first time in the world a solution is presented that allows motorists to solve problems with parking on their own. The ability to see in your smartphone a full map of the location of parking spaces in real time significantly reduces the time spent looking for parking, reduces traffic and harmful emissions in yards. The relevance of parking search services is evident for large metropolises such as Moscow, London, Paris, New York and others. The fact is that in connection with the development of Internet technologies of things, virtually all the infrastructure of the city is becoming clever, including paid and free parking. However, this is also a bottleneck for the future "smart transport infrastructure" of the city, as not all parking lots are equipped with the necessary sensors and detectors to automate data collection.
