As part of the presentation of new developments at the Moscow Motor Show in 2016, representatives of the Russian automotive company AVTOVAZ presented the telematics platform LADA Connect, through which the driver will be able to manage the car's systems from his smartphone. Later, the manufacturer published a press release, which pointed to the limited use of such innovations at the moment. The statement said that the number of cars in which such technologies are used is very small and now one can only talk about expensive models of the premium segment in which something similar is used. AVTOVAZ plans to introduce the technology into conventional cars of budget and mid-price segments.
The first models with a new function will begin to be sold at the beginning of next year. First there will be LADA Vesta and LADA Xray, then in one or two years it is planned to equip other models in this way. LADA Connect technology will link the car itself, user devices, entertainment and information services, navigation system and much more into a single multimedia space. Developers Connect argue that for communication and the correct operation of the smartphone with the new ecosystem will be used cryptographic encryption of communication channels through the mobile Internet.
With the help of LADA Connect it will be possible to control the vehicle locks, open and close the trunk, track the car on the map. Remote functions allow remote activation of heating or air conditioning, if necessary, block the engine of the car or transmit the coordinates of the current location of the car to the traffic police or the police. The car will notify the smartphone of any external influences, for example, if someone has scratched the car, unsuccessfully turning around, or when the tow truck is working. With the help of LADA Connect it will be possible to obtain information on the technical condition of the machine promptly, therefore, the owner of the car will know about the need for technical inspection long before serious problems appear. The application will keep detailed statistics and analyze the driving style of the owner.
"In fact, this is a ready-made solution for managing a park for small and medium-sized businesses, where integration with corporate systems via APIs is possible and extensive opportunities for car sharing and other services are provided," the press release of the automaker said.
In the future AVTOVAZ plans to integrate with the services of the company "Yandex".
