Mastercard launches a payment service with the help of self in the EU

Fashionable nowadays hobby "SELFI", photographing themselves, has long become a habit among many smartphone and camera owners. It is so firmly entrenched in everyday life that it has already ceased to be an ordinary entertainment. Mastercard decided to take advantage of this passion for photographing the favor by allowing residents of some EU countries to make their payments using the "Identity Check Mobile" technology, more commonly known as "Selfie Pay", or "self-payment".

The new method has already been tested in the US, and now Mastercard is introducing the service in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Next year it is planned to introduce "Selfie Pay" all over the world. Representatives of Mastercard report that the introduction of self-payment will significantly save time, improve security and speed up the payment process in online stores.

Instead of long passwords and PIN codes, the cardholder simply needs to download the application and take a picture, after which the program will digitize the user's face and store the data on the server to use the images to identify the cardholder at the next purchase. For someone smart not to use a photograph of a person with a tidy sum on the card for mercenary purposes, Mastercard will force the buyer to blink when making payment in this way. In addition to self-payment, a variant with fingerprints will be available. The latter, among other things, not so long ago began to test the Russian supermarket chain "Azbuka Vkusa".
