Microsoft will stop supporting Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 and 10 next week

IE

Microsoft announced that next week, and more specifically on January 12, will stop supporting Internet Explorer versions 8, 9 and 10. The company plans to release the latest patch, after which it is not planned to release updates for these versions of the browser.

Discontinuing support means that older versions of Internet Explorer will no longer be updated to improve the security of the browser, and will no longer be provided with technical support. In theory, all this will make these versions of the browser an easier target for hackers.

The last scheduled patch for older versions of Internet Explorer promises the latest fixes for several bugs, and adds a notice to users that is designed to convince people to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11, or to migrate to a new Microsoft Edge browser that is the successor to Internet Explorer built into the Windows operating system 10.

The company had been planning to stop supporting IE 8, 9 and 10 for quite a long time, announcing this in August 2014. In March last year, the company announced that IE support will continue for some time in the corporate sector, but the transition to newer versions was indicated as highly desirable. But despite this, in the world several hundred million people still use the old versions of Internet Explorer, and Microsoft does not get tired of saying that such computers are at risk.
