Information security specialists have developed a high-speed browser for anonymous use of the Internet. A team of Swiss and British developers says it has found a way to eliminate the flaw that the anonymous Tor network is currently suffering from - an increase in the number of users reduces the overall speed of the system.
The reason for the slow speed of many anonymous networks is the repeated encryption of the transmitted data. European developers claim that the system created by them, called Hornet, can theoretically transfer data at speeds up to 93 gigabits per second.
Hornet is conceptually similar to The Onion Router (Tor), which is very popular among people who want to hide their online experience. Tor encrypts the data, passing it randomly through the transmission links of the network. However, the increase in the number of users loads the network and slows down the overall operation of the system.
New data processing method allowed developers to solve this problem. In addition, they managed to minimize the Hornet vulnerabilities to exposing anonymous users to attacks.
It is noted that Hornet has not yet been submitted to the assessment of experts, which is crucial for this kind of research. Only after that it will be possible to judge the completeness of the project, the developers said, referring to the BBC.
