Microsoft replaces passwords with biometric system Windows Hello

Windows Hello

Microsoft is going to completely get rid of passwords using the Windows Hello security feature for the Windows 10 operating system, whose release is expected this summer. The new tool will allow users to unlock their computers or access web sites through fingerprints, face, or iris. The integration of biometric authentication systems in Windows 10 is a very promising step, given that such systems are just beginning to be introduced into consumer electronics from laptops to smartphones.

Microsoft says that in the case of Windows Hello, simply show your face or touch the device with your finger so that it will instantly recognize the user. According to the company, the new tool is much more convenient and safer than using ordinary passwords. Windows Hello meets the security requirements of commercial organizations. The system saves users from having to store their passwords on computer devices or a network server, which complicates the task for intruders. This is stated in the message on blogs.windows.com.

Windows Hello was first introduced to the public on March 18 at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) summit in Shenzhen, China.

The function of face and iris recognition is based on the use of infrared cameras, which provide high accuracy of user identification. This eliminates the possibility of falsifying the user's image.

Together with Hello, Passport will be integrated into the new version of Windows to create a user profile for accessing various sites and applications.

As we already reported, before the release of Windows 10 will be tested on smartphones Xiaomi.
