Millions of users have fallen victim to three apps on Google Play.

Google has removed three malicious applications from its online store. The company took this step after millions of Android and Android tablet users became victims. Today, the popular card game "Fool" (5-10 million downloads), the application "History of Russia" (10-50 thousand) and "IQ-test" (1-5 million) disappeared from virtual shelves of Google Play. Threat identified by the company Avast, specializing in the development of antivirus software.

As stated in the Avast virus lab, malicious applications are disguised in an attempt to hide their true nature. Typically, such applications are normally installed and offer the user the promised functionality for a certain time - from several days to a month. Then they show their malicious gut.

The response of the owner of Google Play to the Avast message was immediate. Interestingly, Google began to receive complaints about “The Fool” last month, but the company did not respond to them.

Every time a user unlocked his device, a fake message appeared on the screen warning of infection. The message was redirected to a web page where a solution to the problem was allegedly offered. Instead, the program tried to secretly send a paid SMS message.

It is also reported that sometimes victims got to the page of anti-virus applications on Google Play. Avast specialists do not exclude that some antivirus vendors use such techniques to promote their programs.
