A couple of days ago, Microsoft announced that the Windows 10 operating system was installed on more than 14 million computers, which is a very impressive result, considering that the release of the new OS took place quite recently, namely on July 29. However, what do these 14 million in percentages of the market mean? The guys from the analytical agency Statcounter learned this and shared the numbers.
As can be seen in the graph below, the share of Windows 10 in the market of operating systems after just a few days since its release is 2.47 percent. Some will now think that these 2.47 percent is only a drop in the ocean, but if you look closely at the chart, you can see that the popularity of the operating system is growing rapidly. Despite the fact that the new OS is less than a week old, Windows 10 has already managed to overtake both Windows Vista and Chrome OS and Linux. At the time of this writing, the figure is already 3.01 percent.

If the trend of such rapid growth continues, it is possible that in a week or so a new operating system can easily overtake Windows 8, and in a month, who knows, OS X from Apple, whose popularity, again, proceeding from this graph, began to decline. Of course, to catch up with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, the new OS will have to try, but so far all the numbers speak in favor of the fact that Microsoft has finally released a successful OS in all plans, which is a worthy successor to Windows XP and Windows 7.
In part, such a rapid increase in popularity can be explained by the relative simplicity of the upgrade process, which allows owners of legitimate copies of Windows 7/8 / 8.1 to switch to a completely new operating system for free.
