Despite the fact that some users still prefer the Windows XP operating system, it is gradually losing its position, giving way to a newer operating system from Microsoft.
According to the independent analytic agency NetMarketShare, the Windows 8 operating system (including Windows 8.1) for the first time overtook Windows XP in popularity, which ranked second for quite some time.
As reported on the agency's website, in November 2014, the number of computers with Windows 8.x installed reached 18.65%. The share of Windows XP in the market fell to 13.57%. Thus, we can see that gradually most users upgrade their computers to newer operating systems.
It is quite possible that this was the end of Microsoft’s support for Windows XP, since the security of its own operating system is important for many users.
