Google has acquired a startup for analyzing images Jetpac

Google приобрела стартап Jetpac

Google has already acquired many different companies and startups, and now this shopping list has replenished with another one.

The search giant acquired Jetpac, a company that specializes in developing software for creating city guides. It is worth noting that Jetpac has developed the Jetpac City Guides application for the iOS operating system. However, in connection with this transaction, the application will be removed on September 15 from the App Store.

“We have joined Google and look forward to working together on interesting projects with our new colleagues,” according to Jetpac’s website.

While it is not known what Google will do with Jetpac, however, the startup has some technologies that closely intersect with the developments of Google, reports CNet.

First, Jetpac technology is able to automatically extract information from a large number of publicly available photos without any human intervention. At the same time, the Google algorithm uses a similar approach to search for information on the Internet, performing actions at a speed inaccessible to humans.

Secondly, Jetpac offers geographic data for a virtual “journey” to more than 6,000 cities around the world. This data will be useful to Google to improve its map services.

This is not the first and not the last Google purchase, so let's hope that their cooperation will not be a “crash” for Jetpac.
