Google has shared the latest statistics on the prevalence of various versions of the Android operating system. The data released by October of this year suggests that Jelly Bean is now installed on more than 50 percent of all devices running on the Android operating system, and continues to "gain weight."

The share of version 2.3 Gingerbread still accounts for 26.3 percent of all "droids". The figure fell by 2 percent from the previous month. Nevertheless, this version of the operating system remains in second place after 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich lost 0.8 percent of its influence and is now installed on just under 20 percent of Android devices. The share of Honeycomb 3.2 is only 0.1 percent.

Jelly Bean owes its popularity to the fact that this operating system is available on the market in three versions at once. Thanks to 4.1, the total percentage of Jelly Bean increased by 0.8 points, 4.2 added another 1.9 points to the piggy bank, and version 4.3 added another 0.8 points. In addition, it is expected that in the coming months, the share of version 4.3 will increase the popularity index of the OS by a few more percent, since many device manufacturers will transfer their gadgets to the base of this version.

The Android 4.4 KitKat operating system was announced at the very last moment before the start of the calculations, so it was not included in this study. However, the numbers of it, frankly, would not have caused astonishment, since this OS is currently available only for Nexus devices.
