Microsoft is planning to release a Windows Phone 8.1 update for developers this month. The software giant, although it introduced a number of new features for its mobile operating system during the Build conference this week, did not announce the official release date for WP 8.1. The Internet publication Neowin has published a letter addressed to Microsoft partners on the part of Windows Phone, which indicates the timing of the readiness of Windows Phone 8.1 for release. It states that the build, which is intended for application developers, will be released on April 14th. This date was also confirmed by the authoritative resource The Verge, referring to people familiar with the plans of the company.
The Microsoft program with respect to the preliminary familiarization of developers with Windows Phone allows smartphone owners to receive the latest updates bypassing telecom operators. This feature is realized with the help of a special application, which after launching on a smartphone removes restrictions on updating the operating system to the latest version. Although the current build of Windows Phone 8.1 is designed for developers, anyone who owns a Windows Phone 8 device can use it.
