Adobe hacked: hackers stole source code and millions of passwords

The company Adobe Systems said that hackers stole the source code of some of its popular products, along with data from millions of users. Security experts are concerned about theft, because familiarity with the programs can reveal security vulnerabilities that could be used by intruders to activate difficult-to-detect malicious code, reports Reuters.

Hackers managed to get hold of the Adobe Acrobat source code used to create electronic documents in PDF format, as well as ColdFusion and ColdFusion Builder products that are designed to work with Internet applications, Adobe said in a statement.

Adobe security chief Brad Arkin said the company is closely investigating the incident that occurred two weeks ago. According to him, during this time, hackers did not take any action that could pose a danger to users.

In the hands of the attackers was a database of 2.9 million Adobe customers. The information contains names, identification numbers, encrypted passwords and payment card numbers.

The company also warned that it was resetting stolen user passwords, and recommended changing the passwords used on other sites. Adobe is currently working with financial institutions and federal law enforcement agencies to prevent attacks on users ’bank accounts and to find those responsible.

The attack on the Adobe server is not the first time. Last year, hackers gained access to the Adobe authentication server, which made it possible to create and apply a digital signature for malware.

Nothing can be insured against hacking. Even the SIM card of your phone.
