The company Mozilla and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., better known as Foxconn, announced they have signed a partnership and intend to present the first joint product running the open source operating system Firefox OS on June 3.
Foxconn, the Taiwanese company which is the world's largest supplier of computer and electronic components, has already become the 19th company that decided to support Mozilla and develop devices based on its ambitious Firefox OS. The full signing of the transaction will take place on June 3, and on the same day the companies are going to present their first joint mobile device. Recent rumors suggest that this device could be the world's first tablet based on Firefox OS.
Previously, Mozilla has already announced work on two smartphones based on an open HTML5 platform. Both devices were assembled in small batches by the Spanish company Geeksphone, and interestingly, they were sold out on the same day of the start of sales.
