On October 26, 2012, Microsoft released perhaps the most ambiguous operating system - Windows 8. After 7 months, the OS is still trying to regain popularity from the most common version of Windows - Windows 7, which is currently installed at 44.85 percent of all computers in the world.
Just accept as a fact - Windows 8 did not become the revolutionary system that everyone was waiting for. With all the major new features (modern user touch interface) based on touch technologies (which, by the way, also require updating your system if you want to enjoy them fully), for most Windows 7 users, the new Windows 8 has become a rather unsuccessful update, which people decided to just skip. Yes, the new OS is loading faster and better managing energy consumption, but Microsoft has attacked the holy of holies — the Start button, which is merciless (and as the forum moans show) and thoughtlessly went to the Trash.

The latest Net Applications analytical reports show that as of May 2013, Windows (or rather several of its versions led by Windows 7) still rules the market and it competes in this rather with itself. Noticeable decline in market share OS versions such as Windows Vista and XP. And if Vista’s market share wasn’t great, then users are still very reluctant to break away from Windows XP. And this is despite Microsoft’s tough advertising policy, which is aimed at increasing the growth of Windows 8 sales. But during this time, this figure has increased by only a paltry 0.43 percent. On the other hand, the increase in the share of Windows 7 in recent years also can not be called significant - it is 0.13 percent.
Some analysts believe that the situation with Windows 8 will be able to adjust a promising update of Windows 8.1. Previously known as Blue, the update promises to fix many problems that users have reported, and even to return the Start button to its rightful place (it will open the Start Screen).
If Microsoft does everything right, Windows 8.1 can be the very lifeline that will increase sales of this operating system and improve market share for Windows 7. At least, the company is hoping for it.
