Technologies that allow printing of three-dimensional physical objects are developing at a rapid pace. Users who want to be trendy have a choice: either buy (rent) a 3D printer, or contact a 3D printing studio. In both cases, special software and a camera with depth perception will be required. It seems that soon there will be another way that will simplify and cheapen the whole process of obtaining 3D-objects.
The company Volumental specializing in 3D printing on demand is going to release a web application that will help make the new technology more accessible. The idea is this: the user of any device with a depth perception camera (Kinect devices have one) scans an object, renders it using a browser on a computer screen, and then sends it to any of the selected 3D printing items. If successful, a new way to print 3D objects can catch up with conventional 2D printing.

Volumental developers need $ 20,000 to complete the code. The money is planned to be raised through donations on the Kickstarter website. More than half of the funds already collected.
Despite the growing proliferation of devices with 3D cameras, 3D printing does not cease to be an expensive pleasure. But if you use the Kinect device purchased by gamers not only for games, but also for shooting objects, part of the problem can be solved.
The video below clearly demonstrates the operation of the system.
By the way, printable objects can be adjusted on the go. This can make a 3D printer NSTRMNT.
