Plans to release an ARM-based operating system Microsoft announced in early 2011. In 2012, the platform was officially named “Windows RT”. However, this name had to taste not all manufacturers of ARM-devices. Not so long ago, Dell tried to convince Microsoft to use another name for a system that uses the ARM architecture, reports the business newspaper The Australian Financial Review.
During the Dell World conference, which was held last week in Austin (Texas, USA), the head of the Dell PC part, Jeffrey Clarke, spoke about his conversation with Mr. Ballmer (Microsoft executive). As the main argument against Windows RT, a spokesman for Dell cited the lack of software support for earlier versions of Windows.
According to Clark, the current name of the system is misleading people, users have to explain the difference between Windows operating systems.
It should be noted that not only Dell, but also Samsung, Asus and other equally large companies are engaged in the production of ARM tablets. But only Dell has problems with Windows RT. Why did it happen?
