Google announced the next cleaning of its many services, and this time the Google Reader RSS aggregator fell under the ax of the virtual executioner. For those who have collected “feeds” for years and are used to receiving information from this service, the loss may seem irreplaceable.

“We launched Google Reader in 2005 with the intention of making it easier for people to search and store their favorite sites. And despite the fact that the product has collected a lot of loyal fans, over time, its popularity fell. July 1, 2013 we send Google Reader into retirement. Users and developers interested in alternative RSS aggregators can export their data, including subscriptions, using Google Takeout over the next four months. ”
Recall that the mobile interface Google Reader was released a year after the service began (in 2006), and in 2010, the popular aggregator was released for the Android platform.
Obviously, Google knows what it does and no matter how sad the company’s decision is, it has in its hands a powerful tool for analyzing statistics on service visits.
