This required a little bit - to know the username and his email address (e-mail). After that, the attackers could change the password and take any action.
The first information about the “hole” in Skype appeared on one of the Russian-speaking forums, later it was checked by The Next Web resource, which hurried to warn Microsoft (the owner of the messenger) about the problem. We will not go into the details of hacking, we note only that the answer to the request to change the password could be sent not to the specified email address that belongs to the account holder, but to the application itself. After that, the bully was enough to change the password.
Skype recognized the problem, apologized for the inconvenience, and for the time of “patching holes” suspended the function of changing the password.
According to the latest data, Skype developers have fixed the problem.
