Redmonskie insiders report that Microsoft may release a new version of the Windows operating system next summer. Moreover, the new Windows is supposed to be the first operating system from Microsoft, which will be distributed free of charge or for a very symbolic amount!
The information says that the new version of Windows is already in the alpha version stage, and the release of the OS should really happen next year.
At one Taiwanese forum, one of the users said that his computer is currently running a build 9622 alpha version of Windows 9. The man shared that the new OS is also equipped with a Metro interface and a Start Screen.
Despite the fact that the Taiwanese calls the new version of Windows - "Windows 9", it may turn out that this is not about the new OS, but about the first major update for Windows 8, called Windows Blue.
The portal Neowin.net reports that the main part of the OS will remain the same, but a number of important updates and additions will be made to it, many of which will affect the Control Panel.
In addition, it is reported that Microsoft plans to upgrade the OS kernel to version 6.3. The new version of Windows will continue to use the Metro interface and the Start Screen, which means that no one is going to return the Start button.
Of course, all this information has not yet been commented on by Microsoft itself, but we are now talking about a new version of Windows, and sooner or later the company will most likely have to turn its attention to this situation.
As we already reported earlier, many perceived the change of the Start Menu to the Start Screen without much enthusiasm - it seemed very difficult and confusing to people. Some third-party developers have even begun to offer solutions to return to the Start Menu in Windows 8. Therefore, returning to the roots in the new version of the OS would probably help Microsoft to restore the former popularity of Windows. Oh, dreams ...
