The proprietary function Timescape began to be used in Android-based Sony Xperia smartphones almost from the very beginning. She was one of the main "buns", which the company talked about when the Xperia X10 was announced back in 2009. After that, it began to be used in every Sony Ericsson smartphone.
Timescape is a social service that provides quick access to Facebook and Twitter. Quite a handy thing, but many did not understand it - first, it ate the battery and did not work very smoothly on early Xperia devices. Statistics for 2011 showed that about 80 percent of Xperia handset owners do not use Timescape. Sony could not look at it and decided to radically change the situation. And the new announced Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are designed to help her in this.
The fact is that these are the first devices of the company that have lost the function Timescape. Instead, Sony offers a new built-in Socialife application, which will soon be fixed on all future Xperia smartphones. But now this feature is available only to owners of Sony tablets. The essence of Socialife is almost the same as that of Timescape - it collects all your social network entries and assembles them in one convenient place.
The application is divided into three main areas:
1. My Stream is a “home screen” that gives an idea of current activity on Facebook and Twitter, as well as other signed feeds;
2. Discovery - shows the most popular messages and tweets based on your preferences;
3. Favorites - allows you to add interesting notes to your “favorites” to read later.
Below you can see a few screenshots and videos of how the Socialife icon will look in the application tray on Xperia Z, as well as the application itself.
