For the past few weeks, owners of LG Optimus smartphones around the world have been bewildered by the news regarding the ICS update promised by the Korean manufacturer. The Internet was literally teeming with rumors about a new firmware, which only an official statement from LG or its representative office could confirm or deny.
The LG unit in Singapore, using its Facebook page, confirmed that “in due course” the ICS update will be received by the Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, Optimus 3D, Prada and Optimus LTE smartphones. The last two have never been on the list of applicants for an update. Moreover, Optimus Black, who had already been denied updating twice, somehow got into the ranks of the lucky ones.
A statement from LG’s Singapore office may indicate a Korean company’s willingness to distribute ICS worldwide. Let's hope so.
