Finnish startup Jolla, formed by former Nokia employees of MeeGo, is ready to demonstrate the capabilities of its new operating system. The Sailfish OS platform will be presented to the public on November 21 of this year in Helsinki (Finland).
Jolla CEO Jussi Hurmola told the media that the first mobile device running Sailfish will be released closer to the Christmas holidays. It seems that MeeGo open operating system will soon find a new life in the form of Sailfish. Earlier this week, Jolla announced the creation of the Sailfish Alliance in Hong Kong, which will support the development of the ecosystem. Investment in the project will amount to 200 million euros. Funding will be carried out in stages.
I am sure that many users will be impatient to see the new user interface, built on the basis of MeeGo. To fight the high competition prevailing in the smartphone market today, Jolla will likely have to release several mobile devices.
