Production of the first smartphones based on the operating system Firefox OS will be taken by Alcatel and ZTE . About this today, using its official blog, the company Mozilla. Firefox OS for mobile devices is based on the Boot to Gecko platform using the HTML5 language.
At MWC 2012, Mozilla promised that the first Boot 2 Gecko devices will be launched in Brazil by the local mobile phone operator Vivo. Recently, the project has received support from telecommunications companies Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica and Telenor, which are going to promote Firefox-managed devices around the world. It is noted that BTG-smartphones will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. Unfortunately, the rest of the details are currently unknown.
If the project Boot 2 Gecko will attract more and more partners to its side, then it can be a serious competitor to the mobile operating systems already entrenched in the market. In the first phase, Mozilla will focus on low-level devices. It is expected that the first BTG-devices will be available no earlier than 2013.
