Baidu , the most popular search engine in China, is preparing to submit its own budget smartphone. According to the publication of China Times, the device will be assembled at the facilities of the Taiwanese company Foxconn , which has received world fame through the production of Apple iPhone and iPad.
The new mobile device, which does not yet have its own name, will work under the control of the operating system developed by Baidu programmers, which is called Baidu Yi. The system is built on the Google Android platform. According to published information, the smartphone will receive a 3.5-inch display, many Baidu services, access to cloud storage, a rear camera with a high-resolution sensor and a 1400 mAh battery.
Chinese users already have the opportunity to purchase a device controlled by Baidu Yi OS. This is a smartphone Dell Streak Pro D43 (shown in the photo above). If the cost of Dell Streak Pro D43 is 2999 yuan (about 475 dollars), then the new Baidu-smartphone, assembled at the Foxconn factory, will be sold at a price of about 1,000 yuan (158 dollars). In this way, Baidu is going to attract a lot of attention to its brainchild and not less buyers.
In China, the Baidu search engine has gained such high popularity that some enterprising manufacturers use its logo for personal gain. But this is another story that can be read here.
