Former Nokia employees will develop MeeGo-smartphones

MeeGo

Good news for fans of the platform MeeGo . A group of like-minded people who once worked in Finnish Nokia and supporters of MeeGo have teamed up to create Jolla, a startup that will develop mobile devices based on MeeGo operating system. According to LinkedIn, the backbone of the company consists of "directors and leading experts who have worked for Nokia MeeGo N9, as well as the best minds from the MeeGo communities."

Since Jolla has nothing to do with Nokia, you should not count on support and updates for N9 and N950 smartphones. At the helm of a Finnish startup, there was Chief Operating Officer Marc Dillon, who gave Nokia about 11 years of his life. By May 2012, Dillon served as Nokia’s chief engineer for MeeGo (formerly Maemo).
