Microsoft will limit the number of browsers for Windows 8

Windows-8

Despite a number of updates that the Microsoft Explorer Internet browser received, most users opted for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. However, it is possible that soon the user will not be able to choose the browser on his own. According to information published by the Mozilla blog, not all current web browsers will be available to work on mobile devices controlled by the Windows 8 operating system.

As reported, the only browser that will be allowed to work on ARM devices in Windows Classic mode will be Windows Internet Explorer. However, third-party programs (Chrome and Firefox) will only be supported in Windows Metro mode. Somewhat strange, isn't it?

David Heiner (David Heiner), who holds a law office at Microsoft, explains the situation by the fact that only Explorer is optimized to work in Windows Classic mode. First of all, this is related to security and power consumption of devices on the ARM architecture.

It seems that Microsoft’s decision for Mozilla and Google was not a surprise, as companies predicted this development.

“They [Microsoft] are trying to create a new version of their operating system, which does not give users the right to choose, precludes the development of competition and innovation. This brings us back to dark times when Windows did not know browsers other than Explorer ”,

- says lawyer Mozilla Harvey Anderson (Harvey Anderson).

And what do our readers think about this?
