Magic Lantern firmware for recording HDR video is available for Canon DSLR cameras

Untitled-1

The Magic Lantern team announced the release of new customized firmware for capturing HDR video with Canon 550D (T2i), 600D (T3i) and 60D DSLR cameras. For those who are not familiar with the abbreviation HDR, we give a decoding: high dynamic range (High Dynamic Range) - a way to combine images with different exposures in order to get better detail on the light and dark parts of the image.

As a rule, several cameras are used to shoot HDR video. In the case of Magic Lantern, one camera is enough. The program alternates the exposure between frames, dividing the video into two separate streams, which are later combined into one whole, providing an HDR effect. What happens as a result can be seen in the video below.

Initially, the Magic Lantern firmware was created for the Canon 5D Mark II, the first DSLR camera with support for recording 1080p video, but, unfortunately, now it does not support either the 5D Mark II or 7D.
