The latest information about Windows 8 said that this OS will be presented in nine versions. Yesterday, Microsoft announced in its blog that the new Windows operating system, whose release will take place in the second half of this year, will be presented in three main versions: two for x86 systems ( Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro ) and one for ARM systems ( Windows 8 RT ).
The “standard” x86 version of Windows 8 will target prefabricated PCs and tablet computers. You can upgrade to this version of the OS with Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic and Home Premium.
Windows 8 Pro will be designed for enthusiasts, business users, and will have support for BitLocker and BitLocker To Go, the ability to boot from VHD, Hyper-V, Encrypting File System, Group Policy and Remote Desktop. Prior to this version of the OS you can upgrade from Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate.
As for Windows 8 RT, “it will be available on computers and tablets based on ARM processors, as a pre-installed OS”. This version will receive encryption support, desktop versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote optimized for touch control, however, there will not be any pre-installed Windows Media Player, Storage Spaces and support functions inherent in the Pro version.
