In July of this year, Mozilla announced plans to enter the mobile operating system market with its own development, Boot to Gecko (B2G) . Since that time, almost nothing has been heard about this project, and now, we learn that B2G is progressing. The Mozilla team has already begun testing the platform. A working demo of the operating system will be available for download in the first quarter of 2012, while the final product will appear a quarter later.
I wonder how viable will be the new operating system in the face of fierce competition in the market of mobile platforms? Time will tell.
Well, we will wait for a comparative review of B2G, Android / iOS and Windows Phone. Even if it turns out that the Mozilla B2G platform will be very convenient to use - it will be only half the battle. After all, in order to take the first place, it will need the appropriate hardware and software.
