After the publication of the list of devices that will receive an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich , everyone has the same question - why other models are not involved in this business. For example, out of two practically identical devices (Nexus S and Galaxy S), only one received an update (Nexus S). Later, Samsung explained why the Galaxy S I9000 smartphone and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 tablet computer would not receive an official update.
Both of the aforementioned gadgets use a customized Samsung TouchWiz interface, on which some of the functionality is tied (widgets, video calls, and so on). When transferring to the Ice Cream Sandwich platform, all these settings will malfunction. Therefore, those devices that do not fall into the list of the lucky ones will officially remain on the old platform (Gingerbread), and therefore new android programs and games will not go on them.
The only solution is to use third-party firmware.
