At the Mobile World Congress event, Adobe announced that it was going to put Flash 10.2 on smartphones. This will allow developers and publishers of content for this platform to significantly reduce the load on device processors, power consumption and generally add the ability to decode and render video not by software, but by hardware.
Adobe will release a special mobile version of Adobe Flash 10.2 for devices running Android 3.0 Honeycomb and BlackBerry. The first such devices should appear on sale already within several weeks.
The company predicts that by the end of 2011, 132 million devices supporting Flash will already be on the smartphone market, and at least 50 tablets with the same capabilities should appear on the tablet market. Among the potential platforms, Adobe indicates WebOS, BlackBerry Tablet OS and Android.
