LG, Philips and Sharp are joining forces to solve the multiplatform problem. Together they plan to develop a unified Smart TV application. All three companies (a symbiosis of Europe and Asia) decided to establish uniform technical requirements for "smart television", using open standards HTML5, CE-HTML and HbbTV.
Initially, the first beta of a common set of software development tools will be released. It will be needed to determine the technical requirements according to which a single application will be developed compatible with Smart TV from LG, Philips and Sharp.
Thus, developers do not have to write applications for each individual manufacturer, which will save time and effort spent on testing programs on various platforms. Beta SDK will be available early next month.
