At the Mobile World Congress 2011 conference in Barcelona, the LiMo Foundation, a global organization consisting of operators, device and technology developers leading in the mobile communications market, announced that it was going to release a new version of the LiMo platform number 4.
The new version of the mobile operating system based on Linux, added a few interesting features. In particular, they talk about the correct support of widgets, multimedia, social networks and local services, as well as the presence of multitasking and support for multitouch.
The LiMo operating system is not an open-source product, but, nevertheless, uses some of the achievements of open source, for example, such as a plug-in modular architecture and supports DRM.
It is assumed that the OS LiMo 4 will appear this year just on a few devices.
