Proponents of open standards, Linux funds and LiMo, reported to work together on a new cross-architecture operating system Tizen with support ARM and x86, which will form the basis for Linux-based platforms. Tizen is expected to receive an innovative HTML5 and WAC user interface. The platform will find its use in smartphones, tablets, television panels, netbooks and automotive entertainment information systems.
Obviously, Tizen will replace MeeGo, but the guys behind the project (Intel and Samsung) promise to work hard to ensure that developers and users of mobile platforms switch to the new OS as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Debut platform Tizen is scheduled for the first quarter of next year. The first devices running the new OS will appear in mid-2012.
