As expected, Apple today officially announced the release of a new version of Mac OS X - Lion. The novelty was officially presented at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2011 (WWDC '11), which began work in San Francisco, California, USA at 9 am local time (21.00 Moscow time). According to Apple, it has over 250 new features and meets almost all the requirements of more than 54 million Mac users in the world. Of particular interest are such features as improved support for Multitouch, full-screen applications, LaunchPad (this feature is borrowed from iOS), FaceTime, Mission Control. The latter combines two functions, Expose and Space, and allows users to quickly sort documents as well as applications on their Macs.
It is also worth noting that Mac OS X Lion still has two very useful features - Resume and AirDrop. As it turned out, with the first one you can quickly start working from the place where you stopped in the previous session. As for AirDrop, this function allows you to exchange data in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) mode, and note that it works in Wi-Fi networks and transmits information in encrypted form. It can also work in automatic mode. Particularly noteworthy is the new version of Mail. It allows you to view mail in an expanded form (in two or three columns), offers various options for keywords when searching. In addition, reading text messages in the new version of Mail has become much more convenient.
As Apple promises, the final version of Mac OS X Lion will be released in July and will be available for download only through the Mac App Store. The size of the installer is 4 GB. Users of the current version will be able to upgrade the system to Lion for only $ 29.99.
