Microsoft has refused to use the “autorun” feature in all Windows operating systems. Exceptions are the current Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. At this step, the company is going to increase security and try to prevent malware from entering the system.
Adam Shostack, Microsoft’s security program manager, said he’ve done a tremendous job counting and identifying ways to hack Windows. Here is what he says:
“After conducting a study, I found out that a very large percentage of the infected systems were infected with malware running autoload. I cannot name any specific numbers, but many malware use the autorun feature as one of the propagation mechanisms in the system. ”
If in the end, users want to return this feature, Microsoft can return it with the following updates. Autorun is still working with UBS flash drives with a high degree of encoding and CD / DVD media.
