The developers of two long years pored over the sixth generation of Debian, made on the basis of the Linux kernel. The project participants presented a new OS in two versions. In addition to the main Debian GNU / Linux, they also launched the “trial” Debian GNU / kFreeBSD. But this is not all innovations.
The developers have removed the “problematic firmware files” from the Linux kernel. All this will not be connected by default, as it is contained in separate packages in the non-free part.
The scope of the new OS includes portable devices and conventional PCs, and even supercomputers. Notably, in Debian 6.0, many packages have been included. Chromium is a typical browser, and there is also a Software Center that allows you to manage Icinga packages and the monitoring system.
Announced support for 9 architectures. This is pretty good news for users of devices with small monitors. Using Debian 6.0 in netbooks is convenient and maximally tailored to this format. The OS is installed from all available media. Moreover, now there is a live image, so that the system can be pre-installed and not installed.
