In the Italian press leaked information that the new Windows 8 will work in a 3D environment. It is expected that the current Aero GUI will be replaced by a fully three-dimensional user interface called Wind.
As you might guess, the new system will be even more resource-intensive than today's seven. In particular, it is expected that its normal operation will require at least 170 megabytes of video memory. Thus, the owners of most motherboards with integrated video can no longer read this news. In addition, the three-dimensional functionality will be available only in 64-bit versions of Windows 8.
Recall that Microsoft today uses some 3D acceleration techniques in its Windows 7 operating system. Nevertheless, this interface is mainly based on a two-dimensional platform, and in the absence of the corresponding equipment, all these effects are simply lost. For the first time, the three-dimensional acceleration was used by Apple when Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar was introduced.
